"You have to wonder at times what you're doing out there. Over the years, I've given myself a thousand reasons to keep running, but it always comes back to where it started. It comes down to self-satisfaction and a sense of achievement." -Steve Prefontaine

Getting others motivated

My goal for this week is to get my mom out on one of my runs with me, even if she just does walk/power walk instead of walk/jog intervals. I managed to get my dad to come along yesterday. Although he just walked, I counted it as a success to get others outside and exercising.

I've also managed to spread the word about Couch to 5k. My friend Wesley dared me if at the end of the summer, I can finish 5k, then he'll run one with me in the fall. Motivation! I almost got Adam to start the program, though he enjoys swimming more than running and will be sticking to it.

  1. Hi Kaitlyn! I just started following your blog...trying to pick up my Couch to 5K program again. I noticed in your knitting blog you mentioned Northampton. Do you live near there? My son goes to UMass.

    1. I do live near Northampton. About a half hour or a little bit more away. When did you pick up Couch to 5k again?

  2. Well...I started in January, and did a 5k in April. Ran/walked it and had my worst time :( I think having people around me intimidated me. Hope to start again on Monday.

    1. Yea I think I'm headed toward a 5k in the fall. My friend Wesley is game to run it with me and support me through it so it will be great to have a companion.

  3. What 5k are you thinking of running? I've finally pushed myself to 8 miles and though my knee really doesn't appreciate it, it feels amazing. Depending on when/where I could be convinced to run with you guys :-).
